"Eurasian Curlew"

Stepping into the wayback machine, found this Eurasian Curlew. Maybe hard to appreciate without a frame of reference, but this is a LARGE wader with a 1 meter wingspan and a very long bill used to probe the mud for yum yums. Not a bird voted eye candy of the year, but an uncommon winter visitor and passage migrant to Singapore.

Con,

You must have dug deep into your harddisk , I almost forgotten about this guy. Need to go dig out my old images as well.

Nice photo with good light. Now, the next target is Far Eastern Curlew.

Cheers,
SC

Hi Darren,

There's a reason to include the flight shot. For many waders and sea birds you have to seen the open wings & tail to tell the species apart. The white back and white rump happen to be the key ID features that tell this species apart from the mentioned Far Eastern Curlew !

Cheers, Con
