About Us

Our Background

NPS(S) is a newly registered photographic society in Singapore with the aim of creating an interest in preserving the beauty of the natural world through photography. We welcome every nature and photography enthusiast to join us in this endeavour.

Our objectives are:

• Promotion of nature photography. Two school of photographic objectives
  will be catered for:
  General nature photography, for the nature enthusiast and educationist to record nature objects.
  Competitive photography, for those interested in upgrading their photographic competencies to an international level.
  
• Create greater public awareness of our natural surroundings with photographic images.
  
• Build up a long term rapport and relationship with organisations involved with the promotion of nature photography and the preservation of nature.

Our activities:
We understand that an interesting program is crucial to the survival of any club. Our yearly program is as follow:

• Monthly local photographic outings with full guidance for beginners in nature photography
  
• Web based photo critique via forums
  
• Beginner or intermediate nature photography course
  
• At least 1 overseas photographic shoot at a location renowned for its rich and abundant nature subjects.

In addition, we have an interactive website where members can post their photographs for critique and ask for any advice. We also hope to reach out to the general public through a once a year event in the form of an exhibition or competition.

Facilities:
As a young and focused photographic club which is not affiliated with any organisation, we are currently unable to offer massive facilities like darkroom or clubroom etc. However, our experienced nature photographers have always been kind in sharing their equipment and photographic outings.

For folks just starting out, do keep an eye on our classifieds as some equipment can be obtained for a very reasonable price.

Membership

If you are really interested in nature photography, do not hesitate, come and join us! By joining the NPS(S), you will be able to improve your technical competency in photographing nature. Through our regular meetings and outings, you will be able amazed by the beauty and diversity of our natural world. Together we can generate a greater public interest and awareness to our natural environment!

Advantage of joining the NPS(S)
There is no doubt that nature photography can be taught and learnt on your own. Many nature photographers also shoot either alone or with a small group. However, we believe that a gathering of like-minded folks would be able to boost the level and awareness of nature photography to a much higher level than individuals can. The sharing of technical knowledge and nature hideouts among a large group of nature photographers will undeniably be invaluable. As a registered society, we are able to approach organisations for special access to their facilities, and also build rapport with regional nature photographic clubs.

I am a beginner in photography, can I join?
Definitely. We hope to reach out to new and experienced photographers alike. As long as you have the enthusiasm for nature photography, you are welcomed to join us. In fact, we take great pride in being able to share our knowledge with beginners in nature photography.

Annual Junior (under 21 years old) membership fee: S$10
